We have a right to know what our Local & Provincial Executive Board's are up to without having to go to meetings down in Toronto on a Sunday morning. Question's like "Why did the local executive use our Defence Fund money when they have no right to touch it whatsoever without consent or vote from the members"?
"Why did the executive borrow $100,000.00 to pay it back without consent?" " How can we spend $12,773.00 on phone cost's when rent is only $10,672.00 ? " " How can we spend$ 52,367.00 for meeting expense's? " These and other question's need to be answered !
Did you know that if you want your Defense fund at the end of this contract, the executive has to go borrow the money ? That's right, they do not have OUR money ! Did you know that we are no longer attached to a warehouse? This means if stores are franchised out, we can no longer bump workers at the new warehouse's that have very little seniority even if you have 30 years! Is this protecting the workers ?
THE LOCAL EXECUTIVE SAY THAT THE PAST EXECUTIVE BORROWED THE MONEY FROM THE DEFENCE FUND TO START THE MAP PROGRAM. I THINK WE ALL AGREE IT IS A GREAT PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM IS NOW FUNDED BY THE COMPANY FROM OUR WAGES (.10 ) PER HOUR FOR EVERY HOUR WORKED. WE WERE TOLD THERE IS A SURPLUS OF OVER $ 1 MILLION IN THAT PROGRAM FROM OUR EXECUTIVE. NOW THERE IS A PROPOSAL TO TAKE MONEY OUT OF THAT FUND TO FINANCE THE NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE EXPENSES. ie. MILEAGE, AIRFARE (economy) WAGES ,PER DIEMS,HOTEL etc. WHY HAVE WE NOT BEEN REIMBURSED THE START UP COST'S? WHERE ARE THE RECIEPTS AND OR FIGURES FOR THE ORIGINAL START UP COST'S? IT SEEM'S LIKE WHERE EVER THERE'S MONEY, SOMEONE WANT'S IT SPENT. HOW ABOUT A RAISE IN DUES ? WELL IT'S ON IT'S WAY SO BE PREPARED. ARE THEY DIGGING AWAY AT OUR MONEY AND IS IT TIME TO STOP?
